Change is constant, Growth is optional
Are you familiar with the saying, “The more things change, the more they stay the same“?
One of the podcasts I have on rotation is Oprah’s super soul Sunday. She’s taken to sharing some of her favourite shows from back in the day, recently sharing an episode from January 2nd 1996, called “People you’d love to have dinner with“.
Oprah invited to her couch Marianne Williamson, Maya Angelou, Jeff Greenfield, and Stephen Covey. They discussed how to live through challenging and difficult times with more kindness and grace.
The issues of the day centred around O.J. Simpson, AIDS and postal shootings.
When it comes to life lessons, there’s a school of thought that simply says “while the names and places may change, the lesson is on repeat until the lesson is learned“. The same school believes the lessons have a tendency to get harder, louder and in your face, the more important they are to learn.
Fast forward to 2021 and gather your Fab Four around the dinner table and there’s every chance the issues of the day would cover race, pandemic and terror… and there’s no escaping the intensity has magnified over the last 25 years.
Are you ready to change the conversation?
The good news… the way forward… the path to freedom… remains the same.
It all comes down to kindness.
That’s it.. as simple and as hard as that may be.
Be kind to each other.
